Holiday Cheer

It has been really fun preparing for and anticipating this Christmas, since it will be our first Christmas together as old married people. :)

Last week, we got our Christmas boxes mailed out to all of our family so that they could all have them by Thursday. I'm very much used to mailing out one Christmas box. This year, we graduated to four. And carrying four big Christmas boxes into the UPS store on the morning of the first big icy snow of the year all by myself is a feat I am proud to say I conquered.

My work also had our company Christmas party, so we went to that. It didn't turn out to be all too exciting, so we cut out early and drove up to Temple Square in Salt Lake to see the Christmas Lights. It was gorgeous, but since we just sort of decided to go, we weren't really "weather prepared", which means that we were icy people-sicles within minutes. It was lots of fun. However, when we got home and loaded up the pictures that we'd taken, we realized that the flash in David's little digital camera had reached it's final days, so our pictures turned out a little dark. Time for a new one, I guess.

Work for me hasn't been nearly as busy for me this year as it has been during past holiday seasons. It's good & bad. Good: Less stress and craziness. Bad: Less money. It's still keeping me busy, though.

David's job has been giving him more hours over the Christmas break too. And we've been able to successfully share one car for the last couple of months and that has been a really big blessing for us. I think the UTA got involved maybe 4 or 5 times, but for the most part, we're able to coordinate our schedules pretty well. Mostly, David would end up taking the bus from work the the theatre on the evenings that he had performances and wouldn't get off early enough to pick me up from work.

We are really excited for Christmas Day. It means more cooking for David and a nice day off for the both of us again! David is pretty anxious to try making another turkey since the one he made at Thanksgiving turned out so well.

We hope that everyone has a fabulous Christmas and New Year and we can't wait to hear about all of your wonderful holiday adventures!

Brand New Toy

Yes. This is our brand new toy.

My wonderful husband, realizing the need for multiple computers, decided to get me a fabulous new MacBook. Due to the fact that he is in school and uses his laptop for that purpose and the fact that I haven't been able to do too much of my own photography because I usually don't feel like staying after hours at work to post process, we invested in another computer. A really awesome computer. I am thoroughly excited. I've been playing with my new toy all night, which is fine since David is at tech rehearsal tonight for his upcoming show.

It's still kind of surreal, like I'm borrowing it or something, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. :)

No Fun Business

Getting sick is no fun business.

I worked almost 22 hours between last Friday & Saturday; the 2 days after Thanksgiving. Though I can usually handle that & have done so many times before, I think it wanted to do me in this time. I woke up on Sunday not feeling well at all, which resulted in my sweet little husband staying home with me to make me food & take naps with me. Yesterday is when the icky throat feeling started to come on, so I'm hoping that I can ward this off with some extra rest & liquids. I didn't have to go into work until 2pm yesterday & don't have to go in until 3pm today & tomorrow is my day off. I hoping that this combination will work to my advantage.

As hopeful as I am for my getting better soon, I have to repeat similar shifts this Friday & Saturday as well, so we'll see how that goes.
