Late Night Excursions

We don't get to have too many late night excursions, since one or both of us always has to work the next morning.  However, I took work off today knowing that David & I were going to the New Moon premier last night.

And, I have to say, I enjoyed it.  It had the same feel as Twilight, except the cinematography was a lot better & I think everyone knew what to expect this time around.

We didn't get to bed until about 3am, so I am giving myself complete license to be lazy this morning.

The Cops Here Are Bad Drivers, Too...

Last night, as I was going to pick David up from work, I ended up driving behind an SUV that turned out to be a police cruiser.  After getting behind him, we both immediately turned right, at which point the cop failed to use his blinker.  Okay, fine.  I guess I can handle that.  Everyone around here is terrible at using their blinkers anyway.  However, further up this same street, I was next to him (but further forward) in the right lane, right behind a bus.  The bus stopped, so I put on my blinker to go around it.  I had just enough room to get over; of course, until the cruiser barreled up behind me faster than he was going a second earlier, making me slam on my breaks and wait behind the bus until it moved again because the line of cars in the other lane kept going & I currently had no momentum with which to merge.

Grrr...

It's no wonder that people in this state have no idea where to begin when it comes to safe & courteous driving.  The police not only fail to stop stupid driving, they encourage it through bad behavior of their own.

I need to move out of Utah.

Everyone Needs One...

...a wonderfully supportive husband who will take her to the midnight showing of New Moon, even when he has already endured taking her to the midnight showing of Twilight last year.

That's where we are going tonight.

I love my husband. :)

First Snow

It's been wonderfully fall-like for the past few weeks here.  Normally, Utah weather decides to skip from blazing summer straight to yucky winter, but this year, the weather was being good to us.  So, of course, I slipped on my mesh summer slippers this morning & walked outside only to find a fine blanket of snow covering everything.

So much for fall.
It is now the time of year where I walk out to my car ten minutes earlier just to make sure I can see out of my windows before I start to drive off.  Scraping ice has never been on the top of my "Fun Things About Winter" list.  Actually, there are only three things on that list.

1. Building Snowmen.
2. Hot Chocolate.
3. Christmas.

I think I'll use my time thinking about those things instead.

You Missed Me, Didn't You?

How did I completely miss September and October?  Sorry about that, folks.  A lot of stuff has happened.  It got a little too crazy for a while & I apparently failed to blog about it.

Nevertheless, the most recent happening on our side of the fence has consisted of our most recent trip to Ohio for my brother's wedding.  Tony got married on 24 October 2009 to his long-time girlfriend, Jen.  They should be returning from their honeymoon in Venezuela today.

If you want to see anymore shots from the rehearsal dinner or reception that I did, click here.

Celebrating Halloween was a blast as well.  Here are a few shots from pumpkin carving last night.

Moving

Tomorrow is moving day.

But don't worry, we aren't going far.  We're simply moving into an apartment on the level below us because it recently became available & it has a second bedroom.  So, tomorrow is moving day.  Not my favorite activity, but I know we will really love having the extra room.

Plane Tickets

As some of you may or may not know, my little brother is getting married this October.  David & I finally got our plane tickets to go back to Ohio for the wedding.  We were just there in July, so it almost seems kinda surreal that we are getting to go back so soon, but I am super excited.  I am going to be a bridesmaid & ordered a dress for the wedding back in February that I am still waiting to have arrive.  I need to get a shawl or jacket of sorts made for it as well (so that it can be modest), so that is my next project.  I am also working on a wedding present, so I have that to keep me busy until then. :)

Nolen Family Pictures

Here are some family pictures that I took for my friends, Andy & Diana Nolen, when I was visiting Ohio a few weeks ago.  Mostly, I'm posting these for them to take a peek at before I send them their CD, but maybe you'll enjoy them too.

I had to knock down the resolution of the images significantly so that I could upload them onto Blogger, so forgive the pixelization, if you please.

Super Fabulous Road Trip 2009

David & I got back from our road trip a week and a half ago.  (My internet has been giving me issues or I would've posted this sooner!)  Here are some pictures of our adventures!

This was our trip.  We drove from Provo to where David's parents live in Colona, Illinois & stayed there for a couple of days.  Then we drove to Columbus to see my family & stayed there for a few more days.  Finally, we drove to Washington, DC & did some sightseeing.  Then we backtracked & stopped to see each of our families one more night before heading back home.

Three Hour Shift

On Thursdays, I only work a three hour shift.  Sometimes it seems pointless, but my studio is only open for nine hours each day, so I can't work four ten hour shifts.  Instead, I work four nine hour shifts and a three hour shift.  Usually, this three hour shift is from 10-1 on Thursdays, which is nice because I then have the rest of the day to do whatever I need to.  Today, I am working a 4-7 shift.  Lame.  That pretty much sums it up.  It was a last minute change to the schedule.  The thing that is the most inconvenient is that David gets off of work at 5:30pm every day.  We've figured out a good routine with the car for the other days that I work until 7pm, but working a three hour shift that prevents me from letting him have the car or pick him up from work is just annoying.

Preparing for Vacation

Today is the one day that David & I both have off & we decided that we'd use the day to get lots of things done that needed finished before we leave for vacation.

We decided to take our car in for an oil change & a travel inspection since we'd be driving it across the country.  We seriously needed new tires & a couple of other things done to it before it could make the trip, so we are waiting for a call from the shop right now so that we can go & pick it up.  Although it cost more than we'd like to spend right before our vacation, it was pretty badly needed & we'll have a safer trip because of it.

We also thought we'd take today to catch up on our laundry & house cleaning so that it wouldn't be so bad right before we leave.  Since it has been so stinking hot outside today, we've been a little lazier about that part of it & only one load of laundry has made it as far as the dryer.

On a brighter note, we have been on the lookout for some new button-up shirts for David since most of his are black & are starting to wear out.  When we were waiting for the shop to finish the travel inspection, we walked next door to the DI (Deseret Industries - the thrift store) & looked around.  We ended up finding 3 new shirts for David for $4 each.  They were really new looking.  One of them still had the original tags on it (which said it should have cost $37.50).  We were extremely pleased with our find!

Well, back to cleaning I go...

Back from the Dead

So, I obviously got a little lazy & let over 2 months lapse since the last time I wrote anything. Sorry about that! Here's a bit of an update on what we've been doing...

  • David's work schedule changed this week.  They needed to cut back on hours for everyone since they have too many student employees for the summer, so David now has Tuesdays off, which is my regular day off during the week.  It's nice to be able to spend time together during the day so that we can go places.
  • In light of our new found time together, we decided to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house last Tuesday.  We went to the Draper Temple open house a few months ago as well.  Neither of us had attended an open house before that, so it was quite the awesome experience.
  • We celebrated our 9 month wedding anniversary this past Saturday.
  • David & I are finally taking a vacation!  We are taking a road trip out east so that we can visit our families (his in Illinois, mine in Ohio) & visit Washington, DC.  We are really excited to go since we haven't had an real breaks since our honeymoon.
  • I've been working a lot on my own personal photography website.  I don't want to post it just yet since I don't feel like it is even close to being ready, but if you want a sneak peek at it, feel free to email me.  I'm trying to do more shoots on my own so that I have a good variety of images to display (& not have a ton of the same thing or person).  It's a lot of work, but I'm really excited to get it done.
  • I have finally put my sewing skills to the test & am quite proud of myself.  I successfully, in ONE day, patched a hole in the back of David's jeans, fixed a torn collar on my favorite pink shawl & sewed up the side of a pair of my work slacks where the seam had come undone.  I usually take an inordinate amount of time to finish any ONE of these things, so I am very happy with myself.

Stand Up

All we do is stand up for what we believe in, just like anyone else...

I really like this article.  You should read it.

My Attractive Husband

David, being the fabulous husband that he is, agreed to let me take some pictures of him in the studio after we had closed when he came to pick me up from work last Saturday night. Here are my absolute favorites.

This Week's Adventures

This past Friday, my good friend Jenny, her husband & cousin-in-law came up to Utah from southern California to visit for the week. They also brought their baby, Andy. We've been having a lot of fun this week just hanging out & catching up on old times.

Here are some pictures of our fun...
